Industry Day Web meeting for Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composite Gates, Bulkheads, and Various Lock Components such as Concrete Rebar, Plate, Ladders, and Handrail for the Brandon Road Interbasin Project (BRIP)

Description of Project:  The US Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District, is hosting a VIRTUAL Industry Day on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. CST, regarding the fabrication and delivery of fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) valves, bulkheads, and many auxiliary components for the Brandon Road Lock and Dam (BRLD) megaproject (https://www.mvr.usace.army.mil/brip/).  The project will include the design, fabrication, and supply of the following fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composite structures:

  • Two filling and emptying valves nominally 14 feet long by 14 feet tall.  These two valves are located at the upstream filling and emptying system, one on the land wall and one on the river wall.
  • Two filling and emptying bulkheads nominally 14 feet long by 14 feet tall.  These two bulkheads are located downstream of the upstream filling and emptying system.
  • Two flushing valves nominally 8 feet long by 8 feet tall and 12 inches thick. These two flushing valves are located just upstream of the FRP composite filling and emptying valves.
  • Two dam head gates nominally 16 feet long by 16 feet tall and 12 inches thick. These two head gates are located on the dam before the spillway section.
  • Auxiliary components include large quantities of FRP plate, concrete reinforcement/rebar, ladders, handrail, and other shapes that could be pultruded.

The Government seeks feedback from engineers, manufacturers, and fabricators with experience overseeing similar projects, which will be used for planning purposes. Draft plans and specifications are forthcoming and will be provided through an amendment to this announcement.

This Industry Day will be an excellent opportunity for contractors with the anticipated NAICS codes 326199, 325999, and 237990.  This effort is to help shape upcoming requirements and to virtually meet the USACE team. Manufacturing, Construction and Engineering firms with experience in the design and fabrication of bulkheads are highly encouraged to attend. There will also be discussion where the Government will be seeking feedback regarding design, fabrication, delivery, USACE or contractor installation, and site preparation for this work.
