Bureau of Reclamation Safety of Dams, Conconully Dam Seismic Modifications, Industry Day
The Bureau of Reclamation invites contractors to attend an Industry Day for the upcoming Conconully Dam, Safety of Dams (SOD) Modification Project. This event will introduce contractors to the project’s technical requirements, expected construction challenges, and procurement process.
Reclamation encourages participation from firms specializing in dam modifications, deep soil mixing, hydraulic structures, structural concrete, and related disciplines. Attendees directly involved in project execution, such as project managers, estimators, construction engineers, and safety personnel are encouraged to participate.
Major project elements include:
- Deep soil mixing downstream foundation soils to a depth of approximately 70 feet.
- Downstream stability berm construction with general fill sourced on-site, and material specific drain and filter elements. Total volume of approximately 500,000 cubic yards.
- Lining the existing rock tunnel outlet works with an encased 60-inch steel pipe and filling the annular space with grout.
- Approximately 300-foot extension of the outlet works with downstream valve controls in a below grade vault.
- Replacement of existing gates in the gate chamber.
1. Purpose
The Industry Day aims to:
- Present an overview of the Conconully Dam SOD Modification Project and its key objectives.
- Outline anticipated construction features, site constraints, and technical considerations.
- Facilitate early engagement between contractors and Reclamation technical and acquisition personnel.
- Provide a venue for industry feedback on risks, constraints, and project delivery strategies.
- Support competitive, well-informed proposal development.
